How to beat Vicar Amelia
Vicar Amelia is a required boss in the Grand Cathedral of Cathedral Ward. On a new game she awards 15,000 blood echoes and a Gold Pendant. Fire and serration are the listed weaknesses. After the fight, examine the skull on the altar.
The post-fight skull check is a separate action, not an automatic DLC prompt. Defeat Amelia, examine the altar skull to begin night, then collect the Eye of a Blood-drunk Hunter in the Dream if you own the expansion.
Stop the heal and use limb openings
Fight near a flank rather than trading into the front of her long arm swings. Use a short combo after she commits, then leave stamina for the follow-up. Fire and a serrated weapon are useful against her beast weakness.
When she clasps her hands and prays, she can recover health. Pressure her rather than backing away for a long reset; Numbing Mist can prevent the healing effect. Damage a limb to produce a stagger, then use that opening instead of assuming she will remain helpless for a full stamina bar.
After victory
Collect the Gold Pendant, then interact with the skull on the Grand Cathedral altar. The skull advances the world to night and gives the password context for the Forbidden Woods. DLC access still requires collecting the Eye and using the correct Amygdala grab outside Oedon Chapel.
Questions
Is Vicar Amelia required?
Yes. She is the Grand Cathedral boss, and the skull check after her is what moves the game into night.
Does beating her start the DLC?
Not by itself. You still pick up the Eye in the Hunter’s Dream and use the Cathedral Ward grab. See the DLC access page.
