News and status tracker

This log separates publisher announcements, original reporting and community releases. A confirmed film project is not a confirmed game sequel, and an unannounced project is not the same as a disproved rumor.

2026 timeline

19 February: Bloomberg reported, quoting a PlayStation spokesperson, that Sony would close Bluepoint after a business review, with formal closure planned for the following month. This is the closure report's date, not the date of a later remake-proposal retrospective. No causal link to a Bloodborne proposal is established here.

13 April: Sony's later 19 May CinemaCon recap identifies this as the event date and announces development of an R-rated animated Bloodborne film with PlayStation Productions, Lyrical Animation and Sean McLoughlin. The checked Sony post supplies no release date.

22 July: GAME Watch reported from Yoshida's CEDEC talk, where he expressed puzzlement about the lack of PS5/PC versions and a sequel, and hope for future releases. This was not a July 24 release announcement.

19-22 October: checked community application releases included original bbport 0.6 on 19 October, Android android-1.2.0 on 20 October, Supermedo windows-v1.9.4 and Mrsuss60 v0.6.5 on 21 October, and ayozetr 0.51-linux.16 on 22 October. These UTC publication dates refer to tools, not official Bloodborne editions.

What remains unconfirmed

No official Bloodborne sequel, remake release date, native PS5 edition or retail 60fps update announcement was found in the publisher material checked as of 24 October 2026. A claimed 2027 date remains unverified; this does not establish what internal projects exist.

The old PlayStation game trailers are not footage from the announced film. No movie trailer is embedded here.
