Trick weapons

Most right-hand weapons transform between two movesets. The left hand can hold firearms, torches or a shield, rather than being restricted to guns. Start with acquisition and requirements, then compare the forms you will actually use.

Hunter's field tools

Trick weapon index

26 distinct right-hand weapons: 15 base game and 11 from The Old Hunters. Includes Beast Claw from the base-game Chalice Dungeons. Lost and Uncanny variants are grouped with their weapon.

Types and forms are descriptive groupings, not damage ratings. Acquisition describes the normal variant. Serration names its applicable mode; "Not verified" is not a claim that the weapon lacks a bonus. Church Pick's thrust-only Beasthunter effect is not serration. Only our three published weapon guides have copied +10 scaling here; grades vary by upgrade and are not damage multipliers.

The three focused guides below cover different build goals: the Saw Cleaver for an accessible physical start, Chikage for distinct Skill and Bloodtinge modes, and Rakuyo for a late-DLC Skill weapon. These examples are a starting comparison, not a claim to reproduce every weapon's full upgrade table.

Three weapons to compare

  • Saw Cleaver - base game; 8 Strength and 7 Skill; starter gift or Saw Hunter Badge purchase. Folded form has serration; extended form does not.
  • Chikage - base game; 10 Strength, 14 Skill and 12 Bloodtinge. Cainhurst Badge unlocks the 50,000-echo Dream purchase. Ordinary physical and transformed blood modes use different scaling.
  • Rakuyo - The Old Hunters; 10 Strength and 20 Skill. Defeat the two well giants in the Fishing Hamlet. A Skill-focused sword/paired-blade weapon without Chikage-style ongoing health drain.

Normal, Uncanny and Lost

Alternate versions change where you obtain the weapon and the shapes of its gem slots, not its move family. Check the exact version before farming gems. Scaling grades must identify the upgrade level: a +10 grade is not the starting weapon's grade.

Upgrade before ranking

Weapon reinforcement, compatible gems and whether you meet the requirements matter more than an isolated tier label. A first-playthrough recommendation and a fully farmed chalice setup answer different questions; compare them separately.

Questions

What is a trick weapon?

A right-hand weapon that transforms, usually by pressing L1, into a second moveset.

What is the difference between normal, uncanny, and lost?

Gem-slot shapes and where you find that variant. The family of attacks stays the weapon you know.
