How to beat the Cleric Beast
Cleric Beast is optional for story progress, but required for its trophy. It waits at the far end of Central Yharnam's Great Bridge and drops the Sword Hunter Badge and 4,000 echoes in NG.
Preparation recommendation: open the dark-house shortcut back to the Central Yharnam lamp first. Upgrade your weapon; fire and serrated attacks are useful, not mandatory.
Position and attack windows
- Use the length of the bridge. Unlock near its legs if the camera hides the arms; circle behind rather than getting trapped against a carriage.
- For forward lunges and slams, evade past the attacking side, not repeatedly backward. After a high leap, move beneath its passing body and punish the landing.
- A slow reaching arm warns of a grab: disengage or get behind. After a combo, take a few hits and leave stamina to escape.
Breaks, viscerals and healing
- Focus one limb to stagger it. Head damage from aimed shots or throws can open a frontal visceral; this is a head break, not an ordinary firearm parry.
- When injured parts recover in a red aura, they can be broken again. Heal after a missed heavy attack or at substantial distance, not under its arms.
Questions
Which boss opens the next area?
Father Gascoigne, not Cleric Beast. The Great Bridge boss is a separate dead-end branch.
What if the camera keeps getting me killed?
Unlock at close range, stay away from the bridge edges, and reposition before attacking.
