Cathedral Ward
Cathedral Ward is the hub after Gascoigne. Vicar Amelia is up in the Grand Cathedral. Oedon Chapel is the safer room for survivors once night falls. The DLC grab happens in the plaza outside the chapel, on the left side of the ward.
The Ward has two early approaches to its main gate. Buying the Hunter Chief Emblem is the short paid route; defeating the Blood-starved Beast opens the workshop route around it. Neither should be confused with the Upper Cathedral Ward key.
Two ways past the main gate
For the emblem route, defeat Cleric Beast for the Sword Hunter Badge, buy the Hunter Chief Emblem in the Hunter's Dream, then use it at the large gate leading toward the cathedral plaza.
For the workshop route, defeat the Blood-starved Beast. The previously closed door in Oedon Chapel opens to a lift into the Healing Church Workshop. Instead of needing the locked upper door, use the lower tower descent, land carefully on its platforms, then follow the street/lift route back toward the plaza and open the gates from the other side.
Amelia and the branches
Climb the main cathedral stairs for Amelia, then inspect the altar skull. The route toward Hemwick branches beside the cathedral approach; the Forbidden Woods door needs the password from the skull scene. For DLC access, collect the Eye in the Dream and return to the Amygdala grab outside Oedon Chapel, not to the Grand Cathedral altar.
