Linux and Steam Deck

The original bbport is a Linux project, ayozetr packages a Linux/Steam Deck AppImage, and shadPS4 also supports Linux. These are community routes, not an official Steam release or a Valve Verified claim.

The checked application release is 0.51-linux.16, published 22 October 2026. Its fixed-tag README supplies the launch steps and feature claims below. This page has not tested Steam Deck frame times or a complete playthrough.

Which Linux route is which

deadinside28 is the original Linux runtime. ayozetr maintains a Linux/Steam Deck branch with an AppImage. shadPS4 is a separate PS4 emulator whose quickstart lists Ubuntu 22.04.

The captured ayozetr README requires Linux x86-64 and Vulkan 1.3: AMD or Intel with Mesa, or NVIDIA with NVIDIA's driver. It does not restrict Intel and NVIDIA to the older best-effort wording. Listed graphics support does not establish equal performance across GPUs.

Start the fixed 0.51-linux.16 AppImage

Prerequisites: Linux x86-64, Vulkan 1.3 with the driver required by this release, and your already lawfully available complete game folder with update 1.09. This page does not explain how to bypass protection or obtain game files.

The fixed release README places saves and settings in ~/.local/share/bbport. Back up that data before switching builds. Automatic updates can move you beyond the version documented here.

  • 1. Open the linked 0.51-linux.16 release and select Bloodborne-bbport-x86_64.AppImage. This is the tool, not the game.
  • 2. Make that AppImage executable using your file manager's permissions option, or chmod +x Bloodborne-bbport-x86_64.AppImage, then run it.
  • 3. Select your complete game folder containing eboot.bin and press Play. If it fails, record the release and log rather than importing a Windows fork's fixes.

Requirements and verification limits

The original bbport and ayozetr READMEs request a decrypted game dump with update 1.09. shadPS4 has its own game and firmware requirements; do not apply one runtime's version-specific crash behavior to the emulator.

No gaming-video recording feature is being certified here. The original bbport's Deck caveat about an FSR shader-capture workflow must not be read as a claim about ordinary gameplay recording. No Deck frame-rate guarantee or Valve verification is asserted.

Questions

Is this Steam Deck Verified?

No Valve verification is claimed. These are community software projects, and the recorded Steam search did not find a Bloodborne product.

Where should a Deck owner start?

Read the ayozetr release and README, then compare shadPS4 if desired. Follow each project's own game-version and firmware requirements; this page has not benchmarked either route on a Deck.
