Caryll Runes
Caryll Runes are equipped in the Hunter’s Dream, not in the field. You need the Rune Workshop Tool, then the Memory Altar. There are three general slots and one covenant slot.
Choose runes for a job: Moon for echo gain, Communion for vial capacity, or Clawmark for visceral damage. These are use cases, not a single best four-rune loadout. The oath slot is separate from the three general slots.
Unlock the Memory Altar
Defeat the Witch of Hemwick. From the back of the boss room, follow the narrow passage to the small room and collect the Rune Workshop Tool from the body. Return to the Memory Altar inside the Hunter's Dream workshop to equip or change runes.
General slots and the oath slot
Three general slots take runes such as Moon, Communion and Clawmark. The separate fourth slot takes an oath such as Corruption, Radiance or Impurity. Owning a rune is not the same as having it equipped; check the altar before assuming its effect is active.
Stacking without a misleading percentage
Different ranks of Moon can be equipped together and their multipliers combine. A 1.716 multiplier means 171.6% of the baseline echoes, or 71.6% more than baseline, not an extra 171.6%. You cannot stack duplicate copies of the same rank in separate slots.
Questions
Where is the Rune Workshop Tool?
In the small room reached through the passage behind the Witch of Hemwick arena, on the body. Bring it to the Dream's Memory Altar.
Do Moon runes stack?
Different ranks stack multiplicatively. Moon 1+2+3 gives 171.6% of baseline echoes, which is a 71.6% increase. Identical ranks cannot be stacked as duplicate copies.
