Bloodborne and Sekiro
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice came out in 2019. FromSoftware developed it and Activision published it outside Japan. It is on PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One. You play one shinobi. Deflects fill a posture bar.

| Aspect | Bloodborne | Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice | Evidence / boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Combat tools | Trick weapons change form; dodging and timely counterattacks support an offensive approach. | Kusabimaru is Wolf's primary sword. Attacks and deflections build Posture pressure to create Deathblow opportunities. | BB combatSekiro combat |
| Defense and counters | A well-timed firearm shot can interrupt a susceptible attack and open a visceral strike. Not every attack can be parried. | Time the guard input to deflect a strike and damage enemy Posture. Lower enemy Vitality also slows its Posture recovery. | BB tipsSekiro combat |
| Equipment choices | Invest Blood Echoes in attributes and reinforce weapons to support your chosen equipment. | Keep the primary sword while selecting prosthetic tools, Combat Arts, and skills. These are meaningful tactical choices, not interchangeable RPG weapon builds. | BB tipsSekiro combatSekiro tools |
| Healing and recovery | Blood Vials heal. Rally can recover recently lost health if you strike back within its brief window. | The Healing Gourd refills at Sculptor's Idols. Resurrection can revive Wolf when available; its charges and reuse have conditions. | BB combatBB tipsSekiro healing |
| Traversal | Open shortcuts through areas and use lanterns to return to the Hunter's Dream. | The grappling hook reaches new areas and tactical positions. Stealth can help set up an encounter. | BB routesSekiro tools |
| Difficulty boundary | Rally rewards timely retaliation, but another hit can punish an unsafe counterattack. Familiarity affects how demanding this feels. | Deflection and Posture ask for different timing habits from firearm interrupts. Prior Bloodborne experience is not a guarantee of an easier transition. | Editorial interpretation, not a measured result. |
| Who it may suit | May suit players who want gothic horror, transforming melee weapons, and an offensive dodge-and-counter rhythm. | May suit players drawn to sword-deflection practice, Posture pressure, grappling, and tactical prosthetic tools. | Editorial interpretation, not a measured result. |
People who beat Bloodborne and bounce off Sekiro usually brought the dodge. Sekiro wants the deflect. Bloodborne’s gun parry is a different timing from a sword deflect, and rally rewards aggression Sekiro punishes if you mash. I am not going to tell you which habit is “more skill.” They are different instruments.
What does not transfer
Sekiro has no co-op or Bloodborne-style attribute builds, but skills, Combat Arts and prosthetic tools still offer tactical choices. Bloodborne has both, plus chalice dungeons. Sekiro has explicit stealth Deathblows. Bloodborne lets you approach carefully or lure enemies, but does not use the same stealth system.
Platform note: Sekiro is multiplatform. Bloodborne is PlayStation 4, with PS5 compatibility.
Questions
If I beat Bloodborne, will Sekiro be easy?
Not automatically. The deflect-and-posture system replaces rally and trick weapons. Many hunters have to relearn the block.
